ax3 Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Hi all, basically I had an old version of OSC that had some modes done to it. I finally got around to have it updated to 2.2 stable. I just want to make sure I'm not getting taken by the programmer I hired before I give final payment. Basically he said all he had to do was to update the newer OSC SQL and modify that to work with the old pages. But what I am wondering wouldn't he have to upload the newer PHP pages as well and modify them to have the stable 2.2 version function properly with the newer features? ax3
Guest Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Any features or customizations that were added to the old shop code should be made to the new code. You can't just use the same files that were previously customized, nor is the upgrade solely the MySQL database. Unless you misunderstood what the programmer told you, I'd reconsider using that programmer. It doesn't sound like they're as familiar with the different osCommerce versions as they should be to perform an upgrade. -jared

Guest Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 If you started with osC 2.2 MS2, then you should be ok. If you started with 2.2 MS1, then the upgrades as stated are not applicable, as they apply only to 2.2 MS2. In either case, the current security and bugfix guide is later than the one you linked.
