dumb_question Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Hi , I have around 700 pages in google supplemental results. The indexed pages are mostly old pages that are not present now in the current site. I have most of seo friendly contributions installed including seo urls and header tags mod. Recently, i set up /index.php to / and site.com/www.site.com redirects. I have talked to some seo guys but most of them dont know how to deal with dynamic sites. According to them need to do 301 directs of the old obsolete pages to appropriate current pages. obiously it would be hard to to an individual redirect for 700 pages. Please suggest some solutions and share your opinions. Many Thanks

Many Thanks These google-indexed pages will take a while before they are 'dropped' by google ... if the pages no longer exist in any form ... you could set up a 404 error page within your .htaccess file which will redirect any inquiry to a page that no longer exists on the site to a page of your choosing.

The problem is that these old urls are generated even in the current site. I believe because I have seo urls installed. when i click a page in google supplemental index , i am lead to same url in the new site...with basically picture of the product without content. when I click on the cached url...page has different content and design(old). So 404 redirect is not generated and google considers it a duplicate content. I was hoping that latest update of ultimate seo urls would do an automatic 301 of old url to new url but doesnt look like , it working
