How do I show all the subcategories in a normal list

Hi,

 

Please help I am trying t show all my categories with their sub categoire below

 

Bread

white

brown

wholemeal

Car

Porche

Beetle

Merc

 

At present it only shows the main categories and when you press one it then shows the sub categories to one.

 

Bread

Car

Porche

Beetle

Merc

 

I got the template off a friend and it is very good but it does not seem to use categories.php as I put the mod of master categories with no joy so last resort renamed categories.php and had no effect on my site at all. my categories seem to be control in the header.php

This must be very straught forward but I am new to Oscommerce and after looking on the forums for the last couple of days could someone point me in the right direction.
