Hi,

With all the respect to this product and to you all I cannot believe that this is actually one of the most used shopping cart solutions? I have installed it and then found out that in the install - there was very little included to begin with. Install Contributions you say. Fine - I have done that ... I would download a Contribution and then try to install it (some Contribution have like million steps you know and if you (I'm guessing because otherwise I can't explain that) mess up only a tiny little bit in one of those steps ... you know what happens! :( Now, some Contributions have bugs so you have to install fixes. But all I want is to be able to do some very basic things! (I would understand installing Contributions for something really fancy) but to get the Easy Populate working! I still haven't figured out an easy way to for example change prices if you setup different prices for different sizes! Wouldn't you all think that's a basic thing to do? And now I'm trying to organize items on the main page (as well as in the Categories). I have looked and looked and looked at different Contributions and found a couple here and there but - do I really have to open and change like 50 files JUST TO BE ABLE TO ORGANIZE THINGS ON THE FRONT PAGE? (LIKE ADD ROWS AND COLUMNS AND SPECIFY WHICH PRODUCTS APPEAR ON THE FRONT PAGE?)

Is there a version of OSC that would have all these what I call basic features already build into it? If so - where can I get it? I really don't mean to complain but please understand - I have spent A LOT OF TIME with OSC and I'm really frustrated.

Thank you so much for any suggestions (at least on the sorting of products on the front page)

Thanks again to all the people helping people on here - it is much appreciated!

If you just go to /catalog/index.php, you can re-arrange the code (adding HTML code if need be) to redesign the layout of the page.

You really do need to know HTML and know (or be able to figure out) the basics of PHP.

I came into OSC not knowing one thing of how to code, php, sql, etc...I just knew basic HTML. And yet, I did just fine.

Contributions are not going to do everything you need - you also need to tweak the code as you desire.

OSC is a building block...n all the contributions being tuff n stuff are here for FREE:)

instead of complaining about them n the OSC in general....you could pay web designers to put as many things for as much price THEY DEMAND...that way we wont have people(who dont wanna do just a bit of thinking but save energy for complaining instead) complaining for all that OSC has given to so many ppl over the last few yrs...n is still continuing to:)

actually, romantix is indirectly, and unintentionally, pointing out one of osC's biggest weakness - its documentation - perhaps the future of osc will include better documentation...

here is the current osc documentation

You could also use STS template. It gives you a different way to organize the index page. As with other contributions you have to install it correctly and learn to use it but it is another choice.
