IIRC, tare weight is set to a default of 3, you would need to change it to 0

I'm sorry, but did you ever get a solution to this issue with parcel post being more expensive than priority mail? It almost always comes up that way for me as well. I've been hunting all over for the solution but have only found others with the same problem. My tare is set to zero, no handling charge.

Priority mail has a weight table that they use i.e., 1-3 pounds go for 1 price and 3.1 to I think 6 goes for another price, and so on.

 

Parcel post is by weights only. So yes you can get parcel post for less than Priority mail form time to time. There isn't any 100% guarantee of 100% quotes on shipping and that is why it is called an estimate.

Also, I think product weight is in kg and usps uses lbs.
