langer Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 Hi Guys, I have a client who wants to be able to offer hampers to his customers. The way I want to do this is the customer shops on the site as usual but when it comes to the shopping cart page, the person has an option of adding the products in the cart to a hamper. Naturally, there is a fee for creating a hamper but the way I see it, there is the checkboxes down the left and there would be a button down the end saying 'Add to Hamper' like the update button currently there. I saw somewhere that someone suggested creating a hamper product and having the attributes attached ti it but that won't work as he wants pictures of the products. Has anyone done anything like before and how? I can't find any contribution or help in the forums. Thanks in advance.
djmonkey1 Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 Does your client want to impede the progress of his customers, or just collect their laundry? Do, or do not. There is no try. langer Posted October 25, 2006 Author Posted October 25, 2006 I wouldn't think that by clicking a radio button to add products would impede their progress. But thanks for your answer. Real helpful.
♥Monika in Germany Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 John, forgive him, he has never learned the Queen's English at school (but I did, lol). OK so just like you said the hamper will be an extra fee, and probably there will be a fee for setup. I think I would work around this by a lot of custom coding, but there may be an easier idea IF the customer knows in advance what items he wants to add. I hope you are very familiar with osC to be working on this. I would check out 2 contributions for ideas: custom computer creator and manuel order entry. In both, the order is put together step by step. Personally, I would work a different route. I'd create a new session value similar to what you would do in a dropshipping module ... where I have allowed several items to be grouped for shipping to the same address. In this case, you would group several products to a hamper, tying them together. The fee for creating the hamper could even be added automatically. That said, look at the bundled products and dangling carrots contribs also for more ideas. Good luck! :-) Monika addicted to writing code ... can't get enough of databases either, LOL! my toolbox: Textpad - Compare and Merge - phpMyAdmin - WS_FTP - Photoshop - How to search the forum Interactive Media Award July 2007 ~ category E-Commerce my advice on the forum is for free, PMs where you send me work are considered consultation which I charge for ...
langer Posted October 26, 2006 Author Posted October 26, 2006 Thanks Monika. I am not being sarcastic this time when I say that that was really helpful! I know that a contrib isn't available for such a thing but I just needed a point in the right direction which you have done. If I manage to figure this one out, I will post my success here as people have asked this question before with no answers. Thanks again.
