Chelle Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 I?m very new at this? I have looked at various topics but can?t find the answer to my problem, either I have missed it or am looking at the wrong topic lines. I Have a very new site and am adding products onto it. Is there a way I can have the following? Under categories have Paper then sub categories listing the different brands I stock or colours? I am also not that technically minded so I hope the above is understandable. All help will be much appreciated :D Chelle

Chelle Posted October 23, 2006 Author Posted October 23, 2006 Thx so much for your reply!! I have tried to work out how to do the sub categories, but i can't. Are you able to help with this also?
dittones Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 Michelle, This what I would do and my approach... I would limit the number of subcategories within subcategories...I believe that if you have to do more than three clicks to get to your products...this might discourage the customers...The idea is to provide ease at buying a product... You can use the attribute feature to assign color, size and so on to each product...The attribute feature provides dropdowns when you have the product displayed...and the customer can choose an attribute that meets their requirement and that you provide. I hope this helps dittone.com Roman
Chelle Posted October 23, 2006 Author Posted October 23, 2006 Thx Roman there will only be 2 [max. of 3 catergories.] will make it easier tfor customers to find what they are looking for I have tried what you suggested.. either it's staring me in the face or else i'm having a really bad day as nothing is working. this is what i would like. Manufactuer= Bazzill sub cat cardstock sub cat Flowers. sounds easy enough... now to get the knack of it and find out how. thankyou both for your help so far Chelle
dittones Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 Michelle, Let me see if I can walk you thru setting up three categories... 1. Go to admin/categories... You will see two buttons...New Category and New product... 2. Choose New Category... You will see page to add category info...at bottom you will see button preview...choose this and you will be given another button at bottom to insert choose this... You should have set up one category and see the a folder icon with the category name... 3. Select the icon folder and add another category by going thru the same procedure as above...What you have done is added another category within the first category (subcat)... I hope this helps dittone.com Roman
