carpenoctem Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 this box is sometimes shoing up, and sometimes not. the times that it does NOT show up occur in SOME of the categories.... not all of them. Any suggestions of a place to look to fix this? I usually do not keep this box on any of my sites, but my customer really wants it this time, and i just need it to be consistent. Thank you for your help Mark
squeekit Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 i believe since the the "what's new for month" box only show's new items from the category (and subcategories) of the one being viewed - then if there is nothing new in the currently viewed category (and subcategories) it has nothing to display... what i mean... let's say "Cans" has 2 new items and "Cups" has 4 new items and "Glasses" has nothing new - when on top level everything new from every category is displayed - when in the "Cans" the box only displays new items from "Cans" - since there is nothing new in "Glasses" when there is nothing new to be displayed a possible quik (down and dirty) fix might be to expand the time as to what makes an item 'new' --- like if it currently only considers items added within a month 'new' - you can reset it to consider items added within 6 months 'new - not so good, but it might help - and be easy at that...
