letsplaydrums Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 Hi, I'm in the process of installing osCommerce on my own Apache webserver. I've got PHP and mySQL running okay (as far as I can see) but am now stuck on osCommerce's graphical install. I go through the screen offering a choice between "install" and "upgrade from", choosing "install". On the next screen, I leave both boxes checked and click "continue". At this point, the URL changes from "...catalog/install/install.php" to "...catalog/install/install.php?step=2" but nothing else changes. Has anybody else encountered this or got any ideas about what might be causing it? Thanks RC

But how to downgrade !! that is the next question now !! Any one can help !! THX

Downgrading in FC4 should be easy if you used an RPM. Even if you compiled it manually, I think everything goes into /usr/local/php5. I think :) Good luck with yours. Thanks for finding that line in the install guide. I completely missed it. RC

jasonabc Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 I have just read in the Quick installation guide, that the experts suggest downgrading to PHP4+ as php5 does not compatible with OCcommerce !! This is nonsense. The latest version of OSC is fully PHP 5 compatible (and only a tiny tweek needed for older versions to make it so). If you have Apache, PHP and MySQL running locally there is no need to run the OSC installer. Simply: 1) Download a fresh copy of OSC. 2) Copy the files inside /catalog/ to your web root (or relevant sub directory) 3) Create a database and run the "oscommerce.sql" file (found in catalog/install/) on it. 4) Insert the correct paths and info into the relevant parts of your two configue.php files. 5) Surf to your new store in a browser (http://localhost/catalog for example) Jason My Contributions: Paypal Payflow PRO | Rollover Category Images | Authorize.net Invoice Number Fix
