JustinC Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 I have been using notepad and it spills the whole file out to the right. If I open in wordpad they are nicely formatted but I cannot save it that way as it does not take. Is frontpage a good program to use for this?

Guest Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 I would strongly recommend pspad for php editing. It's free, has syntax highlighting, and built in FTP so your can edit the files directly from your server.

UltraEdit is probalby the best, short of dreamweaver. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: As of Oct 2006, I'm not as active in this forum as I used to be, but I still work with osC quite a bit. squeekit Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 imho... both wizardsandwars & menriquez supply excellent suggestions --- there are tons of free plain text editing options available to you for windows and wizardsandwars & menriquez recommendations are fantastic - google for others if you still desire more... but Dreamweaver (???) < it's a bear - i hate it - it's like driving a big 18 wheeler truck to the corner store when you can just as easily walk... "just as easily" - i mean "easilier"

"just as easily" - i mean "easilier" Believe it or not, I have Dreamweaver, but I prefer using Optiperl (actually designed for perl) to edit my php. Just between us, remember there are only 10 kinds of people in the world; those who understand binary and those who don't!! Remember, learning is a "do-it-yourself" experience; although, not necessarily a "do-it-BY-yourself" experience. The quickest way to learn is to forget to BACKUP!

Just make sure that your chosen editor has FTP capabilities, syntax highlighting, code folding, and line numbers. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: As of Oct 2006, I'm not as active in this forum as I used to be, but I still work with osC quite a bit.
