Edwardo Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Hi there Have just installed osCommerce using a pre installed script in my hosting account. Installation appears ok but I can't edit the opening page ie 'This is a deffault setup of the oScommerce project etc..' On entering the languages/english/index.php I get the error message:- Error: I can not write to this file. Please set the right user permissions on: /home/myusername/shop/includes/languages/english/index.php Struggled with this for a while then contacted my hosting company, they carried out the post install procedures and set the permissions for me and suggested everything was set up properly. Unfortunately there is no change and they suggested I contact the script writer. So here I am, what am I doing wrong? Please keep answer simple as this is my first attempt to install a shopping cart. Thank You

Hi and thanks for the suggestions. The problem is that I have tried all that - correctly I hope and as I say contacted my host company who checked everything as per the oscommerce instructions and informed me everything was set up as it should be. So is there something I'm just missing, but it was installed as a 'pre installed' script within hosting company. ???
