dejello Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Right click on the file with your ftp program, select chmod and set to 444. Jack I figured I would post my problem here, all input is very appreciated! I'm using osCommerce 2.2-MS2 I have set the permissions on the configure.php file to read-only (444) through my ftp program with no luck on removing the warning. I've also tried going through my host's login and changed the permissions there with the same results. I can not edit the file through OSC or my host's login which tells me the file is in fact read-only (or at the least, not writable), so can anyone tell me why I still get this error? Maybe I've missed something? -Jonathan
dejello Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Apparently I can't edi a post more than once.. I forgot to add the following if it helps. I'm using osCommerce 2.2-MS2. Server OS: Linux 2.4.31 HTTP Server: Apache PHP Version 4.4.1
niezzam6177 Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 I'm having the same problem. Change the chmod to 444 in ftp but still it change back automatically to 644. Please help!!
Jack_mcs Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 It's a host setting. The ftp program thinks it made the change and reports it that way but the server doesn't allow it and sets it back. You will need to contact your host to find out how they want you to do it. dejello Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 My problem is a little different than niezzam's. Mine actually changes to read only. According to the host's own file managar, it's read only. I've tried editing the contents of the file in osC and the host's file manager and it doesn't save because it's read only.
Guest Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 I had the exact same problem. I was using cuteftp 6.0 professional. I could change it to 644 but once I finished editing it I could not change it back to 444. I talked to my hosting support and they did not tell me why but suggested that I use the file manager within my hosting's plan control panel. I was able to switch it back to 444 via the file manger
