Produces failure to open errors

A fresh install of OSCommerce from a cpanel addon area I get the following error message when I try to view files in File Manager:

 

"Warning: dir(DIR_FS_DOCUMENT_ROOT): failed to open dir: No such file or directory in /home/xxxx/public_html/shop/admin/file_manager.php on line 178

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /home/xxxx/public_html/shop/admin/file_manager.php on line 179

DIR_FS_DOCUMENT_ROOT"

 

cannot get any payment, shipping, or order modules to install or function

 

any ideas? Thank you!
