Adding individual boxes to products on the home page

Newbie question here...

 

How can I go about adding individual boxes around "featured" products on the home page (index.php). I like the look used on this template:

On this template, there are thin tan boxes around all six of the products under the "Featured Products" hedder. What page(s) do I need to modify. How would I go about doing that?
