Image Thumbanil - Sizing help

My store has both square pics and rectangle pics, how do i make it so the rectangle thumbnails don't distort to square width and depth ratio. Do I have to make all my pics square or is it possible to have both rectangle and sqaure pics and that there can just be a maximum width or height for thumbnail images.

in your admin panel under images, try setting the sizes to either width or height..

i.e. width = 250 : height = [blank] (not zero)
