Hi everyone, after spending an absolute age deciding on what Shopping Cart Software to use - we decided to use OSC as it was a lot more flexible for the products we sell, more user friendly and better looking compared to everything else on the market. We chose a small company in the UK called eShopfitters to do the design as we didn't have the experience or time. However, due to other business sales channels being so busy the Launch Date of January 2006 has moved to the end of October 2006. We are finally in a position to go Live after adding about 1000 products (to start with).

We currently have the following modules installed:

Meta Tags Module

Search Engine Friendly URLs

All Products Module

In addtion to these are there any other recommended Modules that I should have installed either by myself or by the web designer?

I am in the process of getting quotations for SEO/PPC Marketing and the specification is as follows:

To optimise the website so as to increase the online visibility in the search engine natural search listings and set up and run an effective highly converting pay per click campaign.

  • Perform full keyword research and analysis.
  • Perform a full competition analysis.
  • Advise on the optimisation of the CMS system to return search engine friendly urls.
  • Advise on optimised content for the website.
  • Optimise webiste including Meta Keywords, descriptions and titles.
  • Create and optimise header tags.
  • Optimise site theme.
  • Start an inward linking campaign.
  • Hand submit to 600 directories.
  • Optimise PPC campaign including multiple optimised ads to ensure CTR and lowest CPC and Maximum amount of high converting keywords.

I have been quoted ?600 + VAT for the Initial Search Engine Optimisation and ?350 + VAT for the PPC Campaign Creation.

The questions I have are as follows:

What do you fellow OSC users think of this quote?

Do I actually need the Initial Search Engine Optimisation as I have the above SEO Modules installed as recommended by eShopfitters?

Have I done a lot of the work already by using these modules?

When the site is transferred from the web designers server to our host what will happen next (excuse my lack of IT knowledge)?

I look forward to any advice, suggestions and recommendations.

Best Regards.

Stewart.

Well, as long as you have optimise the meta tag with keywords, description, it's part of SEO...

the quote is expensive, if you ask me... that's 7.. 8 times my local currency (convert pund to MYR)...

Nothing will happen after moving from designers server to your host... they won't alter your source code....
