Can I list a product in multiple categories?

My client sells die-cast collectible toys.

I currently have the products listed in categories of manufactures,

however my client wants users to be able to surf categories of

scale (1/72, 1/35, etc) as well as era (WWI, WWII, Modern, etc.)

Can I do this with categories alone? If I duplicate a product by using

"copy to" and putting in a "SCALE" category, won't OS-commerce

see this as two separate products?

Any suggestions or links to the proper thread would be most appreciated.

Thanks!

When you do the copy use the "link product" option and it will not duplicate the product

You should choose 'link', not 'duplicate'. What happens is that if you copy & link to another category, osC just assigns the category ID, which you link to, to the product, ie, the same product would have two category IDs so that it could be seen under both categories and its stock level, price, etc, if updated, would be the same. This should be what you want. On the other hand, if you copy & duplicate, then it'd be seen as a different entry (product), which could have its own properties, such as price, description etc, just like a new product. This may be good for entering similar products.
