Recently Bought Box

Hello to all the programmers out there!

 

I am a bit underskilled with my PHP decoding. That said, once I have the nformation I need I can usually program what I want.

 

In current OSCommerce ( and even ZenCart ) installs the stores show a Bestsellers box, usually in the right column.

 

While this is a great idea in itself it does tend to be rather static, especially if a store has a lot of One Of A Kind items (I design and sell jewelry and other art items.).

 

I came with another box idea called 'Recently Sold'. This box would show the last 10 (or whatever) items sold through the store. It would be more active and less static plus from a marketing standpoint might cause customers to look at something they might otherwise skip over. (Trends are so wonderful).

 

Does anyone have an idea how I would go about creating this new box idea?

 

I have postulated so far that I need data from the database concerning recent sales, but how can I pick that data?

looks like it is very do able, just modify the best seller mod at:

then install it under a new name, call it "recent sales"

Hmmm basically that would be like using the stock best sellers box and saving under a different name. I am looking for a different way to filter the information. I want what is recently sold for the past 10 items only.

 

The question is which field(s) would I use from the database to accomplish this little trick.

Okay I am on the right trail now, I just search the contributions area yet again and came up with the JUSTBOUGHT contribution from back in 2004. No idea how I missed this before!

 

Looking at the zip file it seems to be a good place to start and may be the answer I needed thank you Johannes Teitge.
