shopping cart empty problem

I can fill my cart with no trouble at all but when I click over to checkout whether I use the breadcrumb trail or the check out button I get the error that my cart is empty. There is no id assigned to my order in either case.

I have made very few changes and certainly nothing to the buttons or breadcrumbs. It has never worked since this is a very new installation

This person seems to have the same problem as you, though unfortunately no one seems to have given them any solutions either.. you could try asking to see if they eventually figured it out though. Their store is up at least.. which suggests that they did.

I encountered a problem where users would be signed out when they tried to checkout, which a fair number of other people have had problems with and there is a bug fix contribution around for it. The results varied enough to think that maybe this was what was happening to you but it is specifically having to do with people trying to check out with a credit card..

 

Do all of the other log in related things work? Does ./admin keep track of users you've added and does the shopping cart keep track of items between logging in and out?

It turns out the problem was with the use of a shared SSL certificate. Once I set the stuff in the configure.php file so that the https_server and the https_cookie matched the domain name in the http_server and cookie everythig worked.
