psj3809 Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 I have an oscommerce site which has been 'migrated' but since then its had a lot of problems, i've emailed the tech staff of the site but i'll be interested to hear your views. 1) Firstly on the main site i now get the error message "Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: /home/psj3809/public_html/bleakholt/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file." at the top which i never had before. When i originally installed the site i changed the permissions of this file to 744 which i'm sure is correct ? Are these the right permissions ? 2) I cant access the admin section at all so i cant even try to backup my database The page i get is... Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error. More information about this error may be available in the server error log. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Apache/1.3.37 Server at Port 80 My level of oscommerce is very basic, i know how to install a site and add things to it, once things like this happen above i'm not sure what to do. I've checked the permissions of that file but its still saying its not protected ? All the files are untouched, the admin directory is there and nothing has been changed/moved. The migration of the server (Dont really know what that means !) has messed things up. Any ideas ? Thanks for reading

The permission setting for the file configure.php may vary from server to server, but setting it to 444 should please osC. HTH Ken Thanks Ken. Yep since the server has migrated (dont really know what that means !) the file properties i change for my site under Web Folders look like they have changed, eg 444 but dont have any effect Going to the control panel on my site and the file manager and changing the properties works. Could do it either way before but now just via their file manager. Any idea on the admin side ? Cant even get that to display which is worrying !
psj3809 Posted October 9, 2006 Author Posted October 9, 2006 Oops ! My fault for panicking and over reaction ! Just checked the properties of the admin folder, they were wrong. When i set them back everything worked fine. Seems like the migration changed the properties of a lot of files which then caused it to stop working. Since the migration i cant change properties via web folders (which i always used to) as it doesnt seem to work properly, changing it via the control panel for my site seems to fix it Thanks for reading anyway (phew all working !)
