User Passwords from other database

I'm trying to retrieve username and password from another database. The problem I am having is that this other database doesn't encrypt the password field. So I need to fix it so that osCommerce is able to read that unencrypted password. I have been able to have osCommerce write to the db in clear text but, I am unable to get the log in process to work. I am assuming that it has to do with the password_funce.php file. Any help would be great Thanks
