run on local machine

HI

I want to run osc on my local machine as a test site,

I have sql,appache on my machine from another installation,

when I run local host it defaults to that program , how do

I install and run on local, any ideas? I have got the software it seems to do it,

but need to (con)figure it out :)

Create a database in PHP My Admin

Copy the catalog folder as unzipped to the PHP www folder

Go to localhost/install and follow the steps using the database name from above and root as the user name.

Once the oscommerce installation is finished then http://localhost will start the catalog if in the root and and htt://localhost/catalog if in the catalog folder.

For the configure.php file just navigate to the file (my computer/c drive/program files etc..)

right click on the file, click properties, select read only and the message will go away. Rename the install file the same manner and that one will go away as well. The others do not need to be chmod on local machine
