This is my IT shop from Romania. It's designed entirely by me, no one helped... well... except some of you guys (and girls). ;)

Any feedback is appreciated as you are the best in branch.

www.maycon.ro - Computers shop.

Sorry for my bad english language!

The font is very hard for me to read..you have a sll logo but sll not active...and that is a pretty annoying popup after every click. And I would remove the requests since in the footer.

Ok, removed the SSL logo as it no longer works and until I make it work...

What do you mean by "font hard to read"?

Also, I will remove that pop-up. Any other sugestions?

Hey mate!

I just had a quick look. I didn't find the font all that hard to read although it was a bit hard trying to read the top menu (black against dark blue).

I like your catagories listing; it's quite well done and clean.

Some things that need work though:

  • There seems to only be minimal translation to English. Also, I would probably reword the greeting "Welcome to Maycon Computers, foreign customer!". It sort of makes me feel unwelcome because I'm not from Romania. Of course, I know you don't mean it this way, but that's how it comes across to native English speakers. :)
  • The site took ages for me to load up. I'm on ISDN and it still took about two minutes.
  • Your branding isn't obvious; it took me a bit of looking around to find out what/who you are
  • No privacy, shipping, about us, etc information
  • No phone number or physical address that I could see.

Hope this feedback helps.

Now thats a nice feedback. Thanks!

I just put the english language online a week ago, i have a lot of work to do on it.

I will take care about all the aspects you told me about.

You say it took 2 minutes?! Well, that is a hell of alot. I'll see what I can do about it, as I think I need help from a profesional on this one, maybe optimizinging some code or something.

In my opinion i wouldnt advertise that you have increased prices in some categories.

Anouther thought,

I like what you have done with the header navigation (blue buttons ) but i am not to sure about the actual look of them , i also do not like the rollover images.

The extra header buttons will be made in english also. When you say rollover images you mean the Bestsellers box? I kinda like it. :D

Id suggest moving the additional language module to the top of your right column. Personally, had I not read in this thread from other replies that an English version existed - I would have given up on the idea all together and closed it out.

The actual product description appears to be to much info for what very little it actually says on your main page.

IE, use symbols versus writing out Euro. We all know dollars = $ and Euros = ?. If you are affraid, being as the Euro is not the only currency and very new people may overlook it - I suggest simply changing the color to throw it off from the value of the product.

As well, I am not sure what "(fara TVA)" means. But I assume its related to "varies on exchange rate" perhaps? But none the less, it says it on all of your products. Can you not make a disclaimer that says it in one place or a continuing footnote on each product description versus currently in all product overview.

Asthetically I wonder what program you are using to edit your images - they all appear either pixelated, too bold, or ganilated. I suggest using Adobe Photoshop or for a good freeware software program Paint Shop Pro.

I agree the rollovers are nifty, but not very professional. If you insist on keeping them, I suggest trying to combine professionalism into it. Such as, softer colors and instead of changing the background on rollover - only add a transparent binary code 1001101 in the background versus the current drastic change.

PS. Rollovers are your blue linked images on the top, as you roll your mouse over it - it changes pictures.

And yes, your best seller box is a good addition ;)

In addition, I wasnt going to - but I hope you only take this post as constructive critisim. I may have alot of suggestions but overall your site isnt bad.

Next two suggests are on your main page.

The line "Hello & welcome to our shop!" I believe is to INTER-personal. Change "...our shop!" to the site's name. You want people to remember your site, most of all that means the name. Also, give brief information on the purpose of the site, it CAN be repeated somewhere on the site such as your About page, simply afterwards link it to the about page (click here to learn more about us).

Remember, there is NO SUCH THING as redundancy when trying to sell something. You want to embrace your viewers, convince them.... and the only way you can do that is by telling them what you have to offer, deals, etc... perhaps over and over and over again.

As well, the line "Let's see what we have for you today..." I think is TO personal. Perhaps remove it completely or make it sound less like guess work. Such as "Current specials:"

But personally I believe it is to much. People who come to the site know the products on the page with dollar signs are for sale. You dont need to people know those are products you are selling.

Its alot like me handing you a sandwich and saying the same thing. Of course you know its a sandwich, we dont have to 'see what you've got' -- you already can see it's a sandwich.

Adding the information before the products page, maybe a picture/logo or two will also reduce the dead space at the bottom of the page..

I hope this helps, keep up the good work.

There are some spurious characters all over your site coming from incomplete or not properly commented code.

e.g. 'ďťż' at the top of your page, '?>' above each product description, 'not allowed' at the bottom of the right column, etc

You entered with romanian language didn't you? There are some diacritics on the romanian first page, letters like "ş ţ ? ?".

The "?>" sign appeared after I installed Extra_Product_Images, I have a topic nobody knows the problem to:

@tjdboi:

1. You are right about the language box moving upper, but I'll do that after english language is finished on site. Right now I have a lot of work to do on it.

2. I changed "Euro" to "?" sign. ;)

3. I switched the "fara TVA" sign wich means "without TAX" or "excl. VAT", wich in my country is 19%. I can't put two definitions, one for each language and I wrote "incl. TVA" and "excl. TVA". For now this seems to be the only solution for both romanian and english language.

4. I'll remove the rollover buttons from the extra header for now. I'm not pleased by the looks of them now, maybe I find a better shape for them.

5. I changed the text that appeared on the first page, that's the best that i could come up with at this late hour (it's 2 a.m. in Ro), but don't worry, I can change it again if you give me some sugestions wich by the way, are welcome in the good way. ;)
