Is there a way of making text not bold?

I am fairly new to all this programming code...I have figured out italics, bold etc. But some sections I am trying to edit must be defined somewhere to come out bold (I'm thinking specifically of payment options...I add text and it automatically shows on the site as bold) Is there a code so that it is not bold or do I have to trace where it is defined to be bold and edit that section.
