Need some help with Attributes, Images and options

So. This is what i'm talking about....

Say someone comes to my site and wants a garment, they choose the size(thats simple and already built in as an attribute), then go and select a graphic for me to put on the garment(again, simple enough), but what if I wanted a subcategory so they can tell me how many of that selected graphic? Or maybe they want more then just ONE type of graphic, how cna i have an option where if they check a box, an extra "select graphic" attribute pops up and they can choose a 2nd graphic?

Also, I want to give people custom text, and I installed the Option Type feature(works well too), but I want more out of it and don't know how to go about it. I want to make sure the customers get the first 12 letters free, any thing they type AFTER the inital twelve, a charge of .50 cents a letter will be added to the product total(instead of them paying that flat rate, then I have to call them and harass them for that extra buck for the two extra letters). I know this can be done, I've seen it. I jsut can NOT find the contrib that does it.

Finally, when someone selects from a dropdown list that they want a red shirt, I want a lil' image to popup along side the dropdown list that illustrates the type of red I am selling. I've been looking at all types of Option as Image contribs and all they do is convert dropdown list to radio buttons, it's interesting but not what i'm looking for. Why bombard customers with all these images of colors they don't care for? I know this can be done but, again, i'm lost. The link below is the best example of what i'm looking for. Please take a look at this link to make sense of my rambling, so you cna know what i'm talking about. Everyone has pitched the "option as Images" and the Option Type feature" and they're great and they work, btu they fall short of what I need. The link below IS an OSC store, jsut modified and I can't figure out what contribs these are. thanks so much guys, everyone has been a HUGE help so far, as soon as I get this out of the way... i won't have to bug you guys anymore(i promise).

looking for:

- sample Image to popup next to selection in dropdown list

- subcategory of attributes(to get qty of option selected and color)

- If they check a box, extra attribute can popup for more customization

- For product price to be updated as they add additional letters to custom text

well .... there probably isn't a contrib that does exactly what you want! It's no secret that a lot of code that has been developed and is used has not been released.

That said, have you looked at the custom computer creator contrib at all?

Dear Monika,

What is that? That sounds superawesome... but I never came across it. i'll search in contribs right now. also, i'm not looking for ONE contrib to do ALL of that, I understand it's a combo of contribs, so if someone knows how to solve just one of my three issues, and someone has the answer to another, then i'll combine them and have 2 out of three down, ya know? anyways, i'll check out the ccc contrib. thanks. if i can't find it, or if it isn't for me, i'll whine some more later ;P

Try checking out this site. I've basically done the same thing with making Pizzas and Grinders and Club Sandwiches. They have to go through the order process again to get 2 Pizzas with 2 different toppings. But if they want 3 the same, all they do is change the number in their cart.

This site isn't live yet. It should be activated on Thursday this week.

Hi Monika,

I'm sure that if you don't know how to do it than nobody does. But the solution above works for me.

Ralph, while I have done some contribution reading (reading the list like a book and clicked on all that seemed interesting), truth is I code most modules myself case then I know where and how to tweak and have only the functionality really needed. Not sure what you mean by "don't know how to do it" though...

Monika I found some info in regards to my text counting contrib thingy, here is the lil' forum with that info: http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?act...11&t=109457

I'm the last one to contribute to it with some java code and such ... i just don't know how to implement the code i have found into the option type feature contrib. Any ideas?
