My store

I would like some critique on my store, because I'm not getting sales. I've been up since May, but have only sold two items. My products are indexed, and some have decent rankings, but people don't buy from me. Here are a couple of details:

Store Type: Survival and outdoor equipment sales

Sales Copy: HORRIBLE...I'm working on rewriting all of the product descriptions so they include actual sales copy

Payment option: Paypal only so far--this might turn some people off

Shipping: To the continental US only...though I'm getting set up for international shipping soon

Prices: Competitive

Search Ranking: Products have decent ranking, but my store does not

I typically get 10 - 50 unique visitors a day, but no one buys anything. I'm hoping this is only a sales copy issue, but if any of you see where I can make more improvements, let me know. Thanks for any input you can give me!

Here's my store: BDR Gear

Your site could use some SEO. Install a meta tags contribution. I like header tags controller. Install Ultimate SEO urls as well. Taking some time to make good meta tags is very worth while.

Your contact us page has no phone number or address. Real businesses display these things.

Your privacy statement needs beefing up. Look at other sites to see what they have done.

You are selling knives and other items that could be dangerous. You need a terms of use to cover you ass. "Coming soon" does not instill confidence to the buyer.

Backup before making changes. Backup before making changes! Backup before making changes!!

You did do a backup? eh?

Oh by the way get a SSL cerificate. Why should anyone buy from you without one?

Well, I've got shared ssl now ebabled, and it seems to be working. I just poked around, and haven't done any extensive testing. I also added my contact information to the contact us page.

Those were both good suggestions. And...I've still got a ton of work to do.

I've got a meta tag contrib installed, Basic Meta Tags, I think it's called. It's the one that grabs the product title and uses that for the page title when on a product page. This has done very well for google. For some products (one or two) I rank #1 on page 1, and others I am #3, #5, and so on, depending on how many times google has indexed that particular product, I guess.

Would you recommend the Header Tags Controller contrib over this one, since I've got such a good response from what I have now?
