nishir Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 What is the default status of Register Globals in OSC My host has recently sent an email saying they will be turning the Register Globals Off. How can I let this not affect my store. Thanks in advance Quote
♥Monika in Germany Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 email your host and ask if you can override the setting by adding your own php.ini files - that is only possible if they are not running safe mode I think. If that's not possible, search for the register globals patch contribution by vger. It may still be that you have contributions or custom code added that does not follow the coding rule and will break, those have to be repaired (check readme file). Register globals needs to be on for osC by default, and if you have not installed the php.ini or patch by the time your host changes his setting, all that willbe left from your shop site is the display of an error message... UncleSteve Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 What is the default status of Register Globals in OSC My host has recently sent an email saying they will be turning the Register Globals Off. How can I let this not affect my store. Thanks in advance Annoyingly my host just switch it off!  Left with no site! When I contacted them, they said it was my fault! Okay its not my field, but had I known they were about to make changes I could have been prepared. Their adverts say 24/7 support, that's a joke. the support stops at 5pm weekdays, nothing on the weekends. Soapbox over. UncleSteve Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 check the register globals mod for thishttp://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,2097 I've tried two RG contribs. The first on a virgin site would not work. The second contrib. eventually worked after a bit of fidling. Based on getting the vigin site working, I eventually got my site working to a point!... My site is not working correctly, I've even tried adding a php.ini file which was fruitless. So in view of the terible service of my soon to be ex-host, I'm looking at new hosts with RG switched on. web-project Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 Annoyingly my host just switch it off!  you should be annoying not about your hosting company but about developers who is never thought about future - that the PHP can be different version & different settings - so unprofessional & very very very buggy this osCommerce Quote Please read this line: Do you want to find all the answers to your questions? click here. As for contribution database it's located here! 8 people out of 10 don't bother to read installation manuals. I can recommend: if you can't read the installation manual, don't bother to install any contribution yourself. Before installing contribution or editing/updating/deleting any files, do the full backup, it will save to you & everyone here on the forum time to fix your issues. Any issues with oscommerce, I am here to help you.
Guest Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 you should be annoying not about your hosting company but about developers who is never thought about future - that the PHP can be different version & different settings - so unprofessional & very very very buggy this osCommerce you waste more time criticizing osc (and for what?) than installing the register globals contribution really and having your store working properly regardless of hosts.
