hacketjoe Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 I am used to seeing the lock/unlock icon on the bottom of the screen, but I dont see either on my site. www.vatechshop.com. The hosting I am using SiteGround is suspose to have a group SSL, can anyone tell if this is active or how I would go about activating it.
stevel Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 You would not see a lock symbol unless you were viewing a page with an https URL. Your basic store doesn't use that - typically https is reserved for pages with account information, such as the login page. But your site is not set up to use https URLs at all it would seem. (ENABLE_SSL is false or HTTPS_SERVER is the same as HTTP_SERVER.) Now, if I try viewing your site with an https URL, I get a message that the SSL certificate is not recognized, because it is not issued by a recognized certificate authority. Examining the certificate shows that it was issued by Siteground138.com - in other words, it was self-issued. No browser is going to accept that. You should check with your web host to see how you're supposed to do it. Typically with shared SSL, you use a different hostname, one that is not simply your domain name with https.
