USPS Shipping sever changes

So USPS is changing from there regular http:// server to an https:// server.

 

Although this is generally something I approve of, it causes issues for a couple osCommerce stores I have that use USPS shipping calculations. Has anyone made or have plans to make adjustments to the USPS shipping module to accomodate the change.

 

Basically osCommerce will have to do two things different. The first one should be easy. 1) A different USPS server address has to receive the shipping request. Instead of the production server the request needs to be sent to a secure server. 2) The request has to come from an https:// source which means osCommerce will have to access the https:// path at least on page earlier.

 

Certainly there are plenty of people effected by this change. Has anyone found a solution? Are there resources or documents I should look at? Any info on this will help.
