Why can't I edit shipping module in my ADMIN?

I can't seem to be able to edit TAX CLASS, TABLE METHOD, SHIPPING ZONE, and ZONE ORDER. It defaults to either blank or other pre-filled data which came with OSC latest version.

Can anyone point me to where I need to go to be able to edit and for the edit to change settings and not to go back to the default settings. There must be a way, somebody, please!

site in question is at http://64.176.14.193 awaiting for domain registration to use website name.

These are the default settings within SHIPPING MODULES > TABLE RATE:

Table Rate

Enable Table Method

True

Shipping Table

25:8.50,50:5.50,10000:0.00

ABOVE & BELOW SETTINGS are what i want to change, but it is not letting me do this, but i've been able to do pretty much everything else with the ADMIN panel.

Table Method

weight

NEED TO CHANGE TO by "Price."

Handling Fee

0

Tax Class

--none--

NEED TO CHANGE TO TAXABLE GOODS.

Shipping Zone

--none--

Sort Order

0

NEED to change to sort order #1

Does anyone have any idea how i can go about bypassing the default settings for this module?

this probably cannot be debugged without going into your admin and seeing the issue - you can try to change values directly in your database.

Thank you for your feedback, Monika.

Not familiar with making changes to database, where exactly would i change the shipping module, table rate setting, which is defaulting to zero. Accessed database and found configuration_group but where within it , if it's where i need to make the change, do i enter the change? or is the change to be done somewhere else?

Hope someone can provide me with some solution to this.

well this is open heart surgery so take a backup first ... your table is configuration

find this very same key (bold), remove that row from the table

edit this insert statement to use your own values for the shipping table, then insert

insert into " . TABLE_CONFIGURATION . " (configuration_title, configuration_key, configuration_value, configuration_description, configuration_group_id, sort_order, date_added) values ('Shipping Table', 'MODULE_SHIPPING_TABLE_COST', '25:8.50,50:5.50,10000:0.00', 'The shipping cost is based on the total cost or weight of items. Example: 25:8.50,50:5.50,etc.. Up to 25 charge 8.50, from there to 50 charge 5.50, etc', '6', '0', now());

:-)

Monika,

Thanks for your feedback. It worked! well, almost.......

It seems that no matter wether i try to update or replace "Shipping Module > Tax Class" remains blank even after I enter it using the database, and when i go in and use the pull down menu and select "Taxable Goods," it just won't change, and i need the taxable part to charge customers, i think. Any ideas? Anyone? on what i could do to fix this part of the problem with the Shipping Module?

Thanks in advance

Also just noticed that the hack for "you are $xx.xx away from FREE shipping" still only works with the initial default setting of $50, and not the $200 as changed through the database. Where else do i have to change the amount (in this case the min. for free shipping is $50) so that this hack will work the way it's supposed to?

Steve,

Thank you, the setting within shipping module was able to be changed. Feels so good to have that taken care of with help from the forum. I'll try making other changes to the payment and shipping modules and see if it continues to be ok, so far........great!

I appreciate the time and effort in guiding me towards the RESET function which seems to be the solution.

Thanks again.

Well, it seems i spoke too soon. I am not able to access my store homepage. I get the following error:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected '}' in /home2/username/userdirectory-www/store/includes/functions/compatibility.php on line 27

I placed the reset function one line above the last "}" as mentioned in the forum link given above.

Here's the website address: http://64.176.14.193/ or http://64.176.14.193/store/

What's wrong, and how can i correct this?

the error would suggest that you do not have the same number of open and close braces { and } the unexpected } would suggest that you have an extra }
