Rachael w. Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 I have turned off sessions for bots (or spiders). I just checked my who's online and this one has been on the same page for over 5 hours. Is this normal? Is this something I should worry about. I get tons (and tons) of hits on a daily basis from bots but I want really concerned. Thanks in advance for your help!
Rachael w. Posted September 23, 2006 Author Posted September 23, 2006 arrgghhh! fingers are getting in the way of typing. You get the picture: WASNT=WAS NOT
Guest Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 is it a known bot? (yahoo, google, jeeves, etc.)? or is it something from an isp? (comcast, sbcglobal, rogers, etc.)? the latter = worry about it. BUT, either way can be spoofed. if they're using irregular activity + irregular clicks (no time outs / breaks between clicks), block them
Rachael w. Posted September 23, 2006 Author Posted September 23, 2006 Well, it stayed on the same page for about 6 hours. I looked the ip up and it was supposed to be a yahoo bot. One of these lj601612.inktomisearch.com bots. I found information that this could be the yahoo bot, but I had also seen that it could be something else. How do I block bad bots? This portion of the site is a bit new to me.
