Contact Us sends "thanks for order" email

Hi all,

 

I installed osC for a client and everything is going okay except they've noticed that when someone sends a message through the Contact Us form they receive an email thanking them for their purchase.

 

Of course, they haven't purchased anything, just sent an inquiry. How do I fix this? Can I alter the message that gets sent to them? Is there a reason that osC is sending a "thank you for your order" email in response to an inquiry?

 

This seems like it shouldn't be this way. Any help is (as always) greatly appreciated. Thanks!

check the contact use file, whether it send multiple emails ... it may also be an autoresponse set by your client.

Where do I find the contact use file? Is this part of osC? I'm just not sure of where you mean.

If you installed this for a client, I'm sure you are proficient enough to check the file that is sending the contact us message.

Unfortunately I'm not proficient enough. I looked at contact_us.php but my php perhaps isn't good enough to tell. Can you point me in the right direction?

 

This is an area where I haven't needed to work with before--never had this problem. Thanks again.

emails are sent by the tep_mail function. Check how many you have in that file.

 

I hate to ask this, but you ARE using the latest version of osCommerce or have the patches applied? It would really worry me if you sold you clients insecure versions, especially the email feature and other security stuff that has been long fixed. This doesn't have anything to do with your current issue, it just really strikes me. May I also suggest reading the documentation for MS 2.2 and maybe a few good books on the topic? If you are offering a tool professionally it's not clever not to know enough about it.
