The e-commerce.

Is a highly-customized site design possible?

Sorry, I'm sure this sounds like a dumb question but I'm trying to save myself some development time.

I have a site that is mostly completed, done with dreamweaver and using Mal's Ecommerce for the cart. But there are some customer functions that aren't quite possible due to limitations in their system. osCommerce has the functions but I cannot turn the site into one that looks like an oscommerce-style template. Is it possible to modify the files to produce pages that look really different from these canned template designs? I don't mind doing that work if it's feasible to seriously modify the look and design of pages. Do we have showcase sites that fit that description? The ones I've browsed in the showcase all look like templates to me, but there are too many to browse thoroughly. Thanks for any pointers.

Many people use the Simple Template System Contribution in order to alter the OSC default look. I know it takes a lot of the php programming out of the equation, and allows you to use simple HTML. If you want, you can take a look into a good WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editor that will help you see your own design changes perhaps more clearly: http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,1347/.

Good luck.
