How do I install a shipping module?

I'm trying to set up OSC with a custom shipping module. I downloaded the module and, as far as I could tell, all I had to do was to copy the .php files to

 

michaeldelarrabeiti.com/httpdocs/shop/catalog/includes/modules/shipping/

 

Which is where admin is telling me the shipping modules are installed. I did this, but the modules didn't appear in the list of modules available for installation. I tried a few times and even tried installing in different locations, but have had no luck. Any ideas what I am doing wrong? I've spent a couple of hours trying to work it out myself but have had no luck.
