Stripping Tables from code

Recommended Posts

I'd like to strip as many tables as possible out of the code of the oscommerce core files.

I've been trying to work through the code to achieve this but I'm making slow progress.

Is there any documentation regarding the files that need to be edited to remove specific tables?

For example, I have been trying to strip the tables from the categories box, in categories.php I can only find <tr>,<td>,</td>,</tr> tags. Where is the table formed for this item?

Also, in the main content part of the page I managed to strip all of the tables, except when I removed the table surrounding the main body of code in index.php the information on this page stopped appearing on the site. When I put back the surrounding table tags it reappeared.

Is there another file I need to edit to allow me to fully remove the table tags from this page?

Thanks for any help.

Dear tablstripper:

You sure are a unique one. Look on your index.php page. On mine, I see:

<table border="0" width="100%" cellspacing="3" cellpadding="3">

<td width="<?php echo BOX_WIDTH; ?>" valign="top"><table border="0" width="<?php echo BOX_WIDTH; ?>" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="2">

<!-- left_navigation //-->

<?php require(DIR_WS_INCLUDES . 'column_left.php'); ?>

<!-- left_navigation_eof //-->

Oops! That means your left column is included in all the index pages, and your categories box just happens to be in your left column. Good luck, tablestripper!
