i thought it was 755 (need read and write permissions turned on)

Depends on what error you are getting , if its the config.php file, then you need to go to your control panel for hosting your account and find the file manager, then select the file under includes and change permission to read only, i.e you can use 0444 0r 0400,

 

make sure to delete the install directory completely as well, you dont need it after installation.

 

If this does not work.. just post a link to your site so that we can help break down the problem.

i'm actually trying to change the permissions on the english.php so i can edit the date format and change some of the box heading names.

 

This is the error message i am getting:

and this is where i THINK i need to change the permissions... just not sure what to yet:

Much better, and yes thats the right place to make the changes you try to.

 

 

Change the file permission of the file english.php from 644 to 755. then make the changes you wanted, that should be easy, hope you know how to change file permission

connect thru FTP.

 

from public_html go to eonline/catalog/include/language folder

there you will find english.php right click set properties 777.
