Enlarged Pictures - upload

I managed to create articles and upload the pictures as 100x80 pixel image. Now two questions\:

Howto get the uploaded image stored in a subfolder of /catalog/images

Howto upload and link a larger image of the same article so that it displays in a popup window. In the Admin area creating a product only permitts one picture to be selected.

you upload the largest picture and it is then thumbnailed by the admin settings

configuration -> images

On your point above :-)

Pictures of products I have uploaded are distorted because some are long where as others are wide... how can this difference be accomodated when there are no settings for different types (sizes) of product pictures?

Thanks

It's driving my wife crazy lol

I hit the same problem. OSC reduces the image in a linear way, resulting in distorted thumbnails. It works if the original size is an exact multiple of the "Small Image" size set in Admin - Images. In my case this is 100x80 pixels. If my original is 600x480 or 300x240 then the reduction process does not distort.

in your admin configuration for image sizes ONLY put in the width OR height settings. Leave the other blank (not 0)

That's what I did. But still the images look terrible. I was hoping OSC would create actual thumbnails of the images instead of resizing them. Even with the proper ratio (just the widths), the images look bad when they are shrunk like that. Is there a way to upload my own thumbnails?
