High bounce rate

Hi everyone,

I've been running a live shop for about a month or two now at www.smartgoods.com.au.

I'm slowly starting to get some traffic to my site, but unfortunately the bounce rate of this traffic is quite high. They are leaving without looking at anything. The keywords are very specific from which they have arrived so it should have nothing to do with that side of things...

I'd just like to know if people could quickly have a look and provide me with some feedback of what they think, don't hold back I am open to all constructive criticism.

I have considered that the design may be a little cramped and over the top, although some people have mentioned that they think it looks great. I need some objective comments!

I do have an SSL connection however for some reason it's not working and my web host have stated that it should be fixed by tomorrow.

The url is: www.smartgoods.com.au

Kind Regards,

Andrew Burnell

people want to see what they are looking for straight away as people are lazy but this cant be dont easy. maybe you can get them interested by throwing them your specail offers or latest chart dvd's on the front page instead of latest you have in september

Saying that though, I can't really see nothing wrong with your site, there's no difference between your site and some of the big boys in your industry e.g. amazon, http://www.play.com/ I would just say that you have to find your U.S.P (unique selling point) you can't compete on economies of scale (price) so you will have to find another strategy e.g. service or product differentiation. You have to ask yourself why would anyone buy from you and not say a big on-line store where they know that one, they will receive their goods and two their information will be secure. What is your marketing strategy how are you segmenting your market, how are you targeting this segment. I think you have to ask yourself are you really fulfilling a need that has not already been saturated?

Chris, thanks for your time... I see where you are coming from. I guess my unique selling point is that of customer service, I hate just being another processed order number! I've tried to make my selling a little bit personal... I've had great responses from customers so far, maybe I need to look at a testimonial module or something it's a difficult thing to market to other customers I'm finding.
