Lytech Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 Hi folks. I am extremely new to this, and after a very painful 5 month period with my web host, and 2 more months before that trying to get my test site just right, I am ALMOST ready to go live. I paid my web host (5 months ago) for an SSL certificate, and now (after having to move servers and other stuff), IF you type https before the location of the page, you get that little lock icon. The problem is, as I did not have the SSL already when I started setting this up, I chose "No" when it asked if I had SSL. I NOW need to go back, without a painfull reinstallation procedure. I have already located and modified the includes\configure.php files, but it did no good at all. The site still does not properly put the "s" at the end of the http. I am clueless. It seems like when you "log in" it should switch then, but even to the CC entry screen. No lock. Searching for "SSL" on the forums leaves me with thousands of posts, and none of them seem to have the answer. What should I do?
Lytech Posted September 11, 2006 Author Posted September 11, 2006 Nevermind. Through the wonders of GOOGLE search, I figured it out. For the rest of us, here is where the answer lies. I modified the correct files, just not enough of them. I enabled SSL, but did not set an HTTPS path. http://www.oscommerce.info/kb/osCommerce/G...mon_Problems/75
Posertrax Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 What files in addition to what is specified in the tutorial did you have to edit. I am working on an SSL config today and have followed this to the letter, but the URL doesn't remain https:// and images and CSS styles refuse to show in IE when I type in the 's' after the http It goes right back to plain 'ol http:// in both Firefox and IE. I've edited the configure.php files as needed and also added the HTTPS paths as needed. My certificate is installed properly, etc. I get no errors or warnings in the browsers. I've done this before, but it's been a long time so I don't know what I'm missing and have searched for hours here on the forums. Thanks! --Donnie
