Category List Instead of Drop Down

So, I have heavily modified osCommerce systems and am reasonably knowledgable in modifying code. One problem though. I do not want to have a drop down with the category box. I would much rather present it in list format. I have searched high and low within the forums, to no avail. Would anyone know the code modification to make this change?

The default code displays it as a list. You must have changed your code to have a dropdown.
