Organizing Images Into Separate Folders

Hi,

I'm having some trouble with setting up security on my website. Since osCommerce uses .php script that means there are includes. Using includes theres no way to do password protection on specific sections on your website without locking up the whole thing. Lets say I have a website which i sell photos on. I have categories listed under Super Bikes, Motocross, and then a Private section. Under private, lets say I have John's Wedding 2006. I want to password protect all products under John's wedding 2006. So far, the only way I've thought of going about doing this is to have all the images that are uploaded for the products in a separate folder (Ex. /images/JohnsWedding/) Then I can password protect that directory using my hosting cPanel. What I dont know how to do is figure out how to make it so that the "John's Wedding" product photos get uploaded into that directory. Basically I want to organize my photos into folders is the ultimate goal right now. Can anyone help me?

You're mistaken in your assumption anout protecting includes direectories. This is quite common and used often in oscommerce. Just copy the .htaccess file in the downloads directory to the images directory you want to protect. To use a sub-directory, just create it and then upload the image to it via the product edit page.

I know how to password protect my directories. What i dont know how to do is seperate the pictures into sub-categories. When you upload a picture it gets uploaded into the main category "/images" How can we make it so that I can choose which category to assign it too? Lets say I have jims wedding pictures and I need to password protect ONLY his pictures. Lets say I go to the new product page in my admin section.. i enter in all the prices upload my photo... I need a way to direct it into a separate category lets say for example called "images/Jimswedding/" Is that possible? Another idea in mind is to use FTP to upload my pictures.. and then implement some sort of "Image URL" section in the new products page so that I can just enter in the URL of the image instead of having to uplaod one?? Please help... I desperately need this to work..
