Hi

I am new to this.

I've just installed oscommerce.

In the instructions manual, it says there "You need to .htaccess your /catalog/admin directory so that it is password protected."

What does this mean? How do I go about .htaccess the /catalog/admin directory? Does this mean editing the .htaccess file? or running the .htaccess file?

Go to your site control panel(provided by hosting company).

heck for the icon password protect directory.

Now in this select your admin directory and set a user name and password.

The otherway is to directly place an htacess.

Hi Satish

I couldnt find any icon password protect directory....

Referring to the other way, what did you mean when you suggested to directly place an htaccess? did you mean placing the .htaccess file in the /catalog/admin directory?

The site is hosted with freeola. Any ideas?

Real, non-free, hosting is so cheap that the best suggestion (idea) is to use real hosting for your website. Real hosting comes with more facilities than you'll get with a free package.
