How to install templates without losing store!

Hello!

All new to the world of Os Commerce, but I just made a small store for someone, and he would like to apply one of the templates from http://www.templatemonster.com

I tried chatting with their live support but the person was not the best to talk to. They thought i would need to re-install the whole store. If that was the case, i dont think they would be called templates/themes?

I just need to know in simple steps the best way to apply the templates to the current os commerce store without losing all my installed settings and products etc.

Any help very much appreciated.

Thankyou

Matt

I know it has been answered before here, but make a backup before you start. Then if you mess it up you can just reinstall the store and not loose anything.

Ok, thanks. I couldn't get the search on here to work properly.

The "Template" file included all the php files and everything which i was a bit confused about because it just would wipe it all out.

If anyone could tell me how they installed a template correctly, please let me know.

usually the template comes with instructions, each one different so it's difficult to generalise.

however, as Jave Roasters said, back up everything first and then replace the original files with the ones supplied in the template. They shouldn't damage anything in your existing database of products or customers.

Good luck,

Appreciate the replies.

I just got this from template monstor support:

Sorry, but it is impossible to integrate our OSCommerce template into an existing one. All our templates require clean install. Follow the tutorials to install the template and edit it.

So now my question is, is it possible to import the current products etc into the new installation? IF not, what other themes can i apply over the current installation?
