grease Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 I want to add products to my osc catalog, but instead of adding it to cart, forward them to vendor site. Is there a module for such? I do not want to set up my affiliate program. These are products I do not sell myself but products related to what i sell that would interest them. hope this makes sense. I have seen others post the same question, but replies say to use affilate module.
driftwood Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 morning bump... So what are you saying ? You display a product, a visitor clicks on buy and then is sent to another site ? How do they pay ? What if they have items in their cart when they buy one of these items ? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- OSC user for years and no coder, so I've earned my stripes. Feel free to private message me.
grease Posted September 7, 2006 Author Posted September 7, 2006 Yes, I have a "consignments" area. To purchase this item you need to go to another website and buy through them. Link would open in a new browser so that if they have items in cart, it is not disturbed. Consignments will be made clear to customer, just do not know how to do it. It fulfills my current catalog on items I cannot provide, for whatever reason. So what are you saying ? You display a product, a visitor clicks on buy and then is sent to another site ? I figured that as I seldom get more the a one product ordered it was worth the risk. This is the supplier I used was able to provide content code which made it easy. All I then had to do was make the category and use that code in the category discription and not add any items to that category. I think you need the cat-disc contrib but again not sure. If you want to see how it looks let me know and I'll be happy to knock something up on my testing site. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- OSC user for years and no coder, so I've earned my stripes. grease Posted September 8, 2006 Author Posted September 8, 2006 thanks. I will take a look at that mod this weekend and see if it is something that would work. joelm Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 Hello. I was looking for something like this, as simple as this: 1) I want to know where the customers that ordered came from. 2) I want to put a link like this: http://mystore.com/catalog?&affiliate=1 so I can trace the affiliate 1 to a store that I know what it is 3) When the customer cames from that link... I would like to store the affiliate where he came... into the order. Basically this is all I need. No need the control of prices and comissions but if it cames as an extra, I don't mind. Any help?

I am desperate to figure out basically how to do the same thing on my site, do I have to do some crazy coding or can a total junior like me do this? someone did all the setting up and coding for my site, and then had a baby and quit, I am left searching the internet for solutions, please help.
