I've searched, but cant find a item number contrib

I am looking for something which will automatically add an item number to each item during the add item listing process.

 

I would like it to start at a particular number initially and increase by 1 with each new item listed and would show an item number along with the photo, title and price in a product search and in checkout, invoice, packing slip etc.

 

I would like this for inventory purposes as I have thousands of individual items and storage without a number is going to be a nightmare to find that particular item when one sells. I know I can add the number to the title but I was hoping for something a little more streamlined.

 

Is there such a thing?

I guess I'll just use the model # field, I'll just change it to say item number since this will show on the packing slip. Thanks.

I was looking this too, i saw when you add a new product generate automatic Item number but is a little hiden, but when you search this item number dont find.

You can make the model field auto increment in the database to create a unique item number each time. However, since the product ID is already an auto increment field why don't you just echo the product ID into the product Info page ?
