Clearing Cache

It varies with the browser but it should be in the tools menu. For IE it is tools->Internet Options. If you hold down the ctrl key and click the refresh button, it will force a reset. That is usually easier.

thanks, I have allready tried clearing my internet history, temp files, cookies etc. and that didn't work, I assumed they ment the shops cache?

 

Hi there,

 

I have a simillar problem. Everytime I'm changing something in my categories (like the name, or adding a product), my browser won't shop it until a couple of days (sometimes even weeks).

 

Like now: I've deleted a category named 'specials' and inserted a category named 'ceedees' and I've added 40 products to another category named 'elpees'.

 

When approaching my webshop in IE after the changes, it's still showing 'specials' but no 'ceedees' plus the category 'elpees' is showing 478 items instead of 518 items.

 

After a couple of refreshes and even restarting my computer it's still showing the wrong names and numbers.

 

But in the admin-section it's showing exactly what I've changed: I can see the category 'ceedees' and I can see that there are 518 items in 'elpees'.

 

What's wrong with this? Is it the cache of OsCommerce?

Do you have cache enabled in admin? If so, look at where it is being stored, go to that directory and delete the files. If not, then there isn't a cache to clear.

Hi Guys, I've just set the currency on my shop to GBP and now all my prices are showing as 0. I have read that I need to clear the cache - how do I do this?

 

In includes/languages/english.php

 

define('LANGUAGE_CURRENCY', 'GDP');

I have exactly the same problem. a few days ago i deleted a category and now all of a sudden that category miraculously reappeared. I tried to delete all tmp files all cookies but it is still there. I?ve got kind of scared. :o

i fixed it. the problem was with the the cache. i deleted all the files exept for the 3 simmilar to this manufacturers_box-english.cache

I'm afraid for me it doesn't work. I've tried to delete everything I've got, but the problem still excists. Maybe there's something else we've overlooked?

Ok, delete all files in cache folder except for these three, if you use only inglish languge:

categories_box-english.cache

manufacturers_box-english.cache

also_purchased-english.cache

 

 

 

Refresh. I f you still have problem that is caused by the data inserted into one of these files.

 

First make back-ups of these files just in case.

.

To find out which one it is just delete one file and replace it with an empty one.

 

Most likely you have problem with caregories_box-englis.cache

 

Create a new empty file and name it caterories_box-eglish.cache.

 

Upload it.

 

Than go to your admnin/catalog/categories-products. Select one product and click update.

 

Then go to your site refresh and it should work

The problem is is that I don't have any of these three files you've mentioned. I've created a long time ago a directory named 'tmp'. I've setup the admin at the 'chache'-section "use cache" to "true" and "cache directory" to "/tmp/" but not even one file is ever created in that directory.

 

Maybe that's the problem...

 

What I've done is to create an empty categories_box-english.cache-file and uploaded this file to the appropiate directory. I've 'updated' a product and it seems that the file was deleted for some reason (it isn't there anymore).

Thanks, this works. Although still there aren't any files made by admin after renaming a product, but all my new created categories and changed categories are now displayed in my shop without any problem.
