How to remove all references to Manufacturer?

I am (a newbie) building a webshop for a manufacturer and therefore don't need a 'Sort by Manufacturers' Box in a column.

 

I have easily removed this Box, however 'Manufacturer' still appears in the header of the box you get when displaying the results of a Search (i.e. to the left of 'Product Name+', 'Price' and 'Buy Now'), as well as in the header of the box you get as a result of clicking on a category in the 'Categories' Box.

 

Could anyone please tell me how I can remove the word 'Manufacturer' from these boxes (and possibly any others I don't know about yet that might pitch up)? Any advice is much appreciated.

admin panel -> configuration -> product listing -> display product maufacturer name ?
