Guest Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Hi My Site works fine but for some reason it was installed like this www.site/catalog/ I was wondering if it is not better to move it up to www.site What Steps should i look out for to do this? I could download all Sub Folders and then upload them again into www.site but are there any other Issues like the Database etc to consider Regards Manfred
brianstorm Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 the default instructions suggets that catalog path.... you can move everything to the root if you amend /includes/configure.php and /includes/admin/configure.php and the site should still work.... alternatively you could have your server www root set to point to the catalog folder which may be quicker if your host will do it for you... with ten thousand dollars we'll all be millionaires

What has to be changed are the path information for the URLs in both of your configure files, and admin has to be reprotected Hi Thanks for the Quick Replies to all.The Reason I wanted to do this is: I have the Site at here at www.mk34.com/catalog/ (my main Site) which does not show up so nice in Google although we are doing very well in the local South African Search Engines. A few weeks ago I copied the Site to some other spare Domain Names with the view of getting more Order or Traffic Those ones are here and here Both these new (copied) Sites are newer yet show up better in Google for some Reason and I thought it might have to do with the Fact that they are in the Root compared to the original Site in the Catalog Folder. I will give it a Try and see if it makes any Difference Thanks again Manfred Jeffreys Bay South Africa
