osCommerce

The e-commerce.

Which is the best way to go to apply OSCommerce to my very own CSS design layout.

Hi

I'm setting up the database of my store using the standard template that came with the OSCommerce Package in the 'Catalogue' folder.

I am primarily a web designer (not a coder) and would like to apply the store to my own design which would be CSS laid out (not tables). I noticed a module called "Simple Template System" or "STS". Reading the summary, it sounds exactly what I'm after ie creating my own html template in Dreamweaver and inserting the relevant tags in their positions on the page. Plus being called 'simple' sounds pretty good too. I'm using a similar method for a CMS called CMSMS (for anyone looking for a good no fuss CMS to use, I recommend it highly).

Can anyone tell me if they have used this template system and if it is good - or does it have limitations? Or is there another way to customise the store to my design (without using tables ofcourse).

Thanks

Hi Ozzzzy,

STS works very well, and allows different templates for different areas. Quite quick to setup and get going IMO, although, as with everything there seems to be some trouble amongst some people.

It does have limitations, as does everything, but seems to be quite popular.

I use the osCommerce CMS, I don't know the one you are using, so can't comment.

I am only a newb here so others probably have more to add, but hopefully this adds something.

BTW, check the contributions forum for STS, and you can see the discussions on it.

I'm sorry, but i cannot offer Free support via PM etc, and osCommerce forums prohibit me from putting any reference to paid support in my signauture.

However viewing my profile may provide links to my website or something like that which you may find useful.

Thanks,

I didn't realise there was a separate forum, I will look into it and give it all a go.

Much appreciated.
