proxykitten Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 Hey, Uber-customized (visually) oscommerce-driven site. Let me know if something's broken. Design decisions were made by head designer, not me... but feel free to critique if you wish. I'm more interested in broken pages / functions / inconsistencies. All feedback welcome. Thanks in advance for your help! Stationery Website Liz

proxykitten Posted September 3, 2006 Author Posted September 3, 2006 Yeah, "home" sends you to the holder page for now. The site "isn't live" yet... i.e. it's not linked to from root level. Home is index2.html for now. Slow load? What in particular? The page graphics or the items? Thanks.
tastar Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 The e-notes and search boxes and text aren't lined up. When I entered bogus info into the log-in box, and hit sign-in, I didn't receive an error (maybe by design). But, your e-notes responds (correctly) when incorrect info is entered. The account login could mimic this. Detail images are broken for the brass rule, cedar pencils and folding bone (and possibly others). I don't like the way that stuff is being hidden below the fold (I'm at 1024 x 768) - it took a while to realize that it was there (and I found it because I know osCommerce and was wondering if you had somehow dropped it from the store). Maybe bringing the first line of links above the fold would make navigation a little easier. And, search is almost always at the top of the page. You could discretely move it to the top right. I miss the breadcrumb trail, too. It is a beautiful and well executed site. Seems to be extremely well organized and efficient. Excellent job. Tony
muskokee Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 Accessory Pantry>Autumn vine gift/wine tag img title/alt has an html <br> tag on hover. Seems like your meta tag <title> is missing from this category as well. The description in ensembles>tulip looks odd with the superscript breaking the line-height. Perhaps pick a line height for all the descriptions that encompasses sub and superscript. I know that you have your semi-detailed menu above the categories and products but maybe a back link just above the product image? to return to the category page (I know I could just click the "cards" link again but the back link is so ingrained it feels as though there is a big hole when I can't use it.). This is also a consideration on your Accessory Pantry page where there are no subcategories, therefore to menu to click on! How many sealing wafers in a package? Might they be a $5 each? No idea! I know this is an upscale product line but how many pages do I get in my telephone pad for $85? Even wealthy people want to know how many messages they can take before they have to order more pads! Clicking on home brought me to a easier to read company name. The catalog name should also have a slight drop shadow. Also on the "home" page the word e-boutique is in the same script as the company name. Looks nice. You might want to consider this for the home link. Lovely site. Rich looking, uncluttered, perfect for the upscale NewYork scene! (I think  ) Sheri

This is also a consideration on your Accessory Pantry page where there are no subcategories, therefore to menu to click on! Totally agree. Wasn't designed into the page by the designer... personally I would want to see a "view next product in category" link or similar. How many sealing wafers in a package? Might they be a $5 each? No idea!I know this is an upscale product line but how many pages do I get in my telephone pad for $85? Even wealthy people want to know how many messages they can take before they have to order more pads! Great point. Will ask the company how many sealing wafers (haha - who uses these?!) and page #'s. Clicking on home brought me to a easier to read company name. The catalog name should also have a slight drop shadow. Also on the "home" page the word e-boutique is in the same script as the company name. Looks nice. You might want to consider this for the home link. Again, totally agree. Dropshadow would be really good. Unfortunately the client wanted the "HOME" link to look like this. Very odd... but they're not web people so they were very specific about a large, clear white home button. The designer did the best he could, I'm sure. Lovely site. Rich looking, uncluttered, perfect for the upscale NewYork scene! (I think  ) Thanks, Sheri!!!
proxykitten Posted September 4, 2006 Author Posted September 4, 2006 The e-notes and search boxes and text aren't lined up. Thanks. I hate checking on explorer / opera. I need to do it more often instead of just hoping it works. When I entered bogus info into the log-in box, and hit sign-in, I didn't receive an error (maybe by design). But, your e-notes responds (correctly) when incorrect info is entered. The account login could mimic this. Great idea. That e-notes thing was a "newsletter" contribution. Really works well: Newsletter Contribution Detail images are broken for the brass rule, cedar pencils and folding bone (and possibly others). Ohhh thanks!!!!! Yes. Designer made those choices. I'm all about following the laws of web pages everywhere. Unfortunately us coders can't make all the decisions. It is a beautiful and well executed site. Seems to be extremely well organized and efficient. Excellent job. Tony Thanks Tony!!!
